				<title>Wisconsin Bottled Water?</title>
				<link>http://wpt2.org/npa/producersJournal/index.cfm/2009/8/3/Wisconsin-Bottled-Water</link>
				<description>

				&quot;In Wisconsin&apos;s&quot; sister program &quot;Here and Now&quot; will be in and around Marquette County this week talking to people about the proposal by a California company, Crystal Geyser Roxane. Their proposal is to bottle water from springs near Oxford. The project was revealed just as the state legislature began a long scheduled review of the state&apos;s groundwater laws.

The location&apos;s not far from the Mecan Springs where controversy erupted when Perrier wanted to bottle spring water nearly ten years ago.

Interesting fact: Even though Oxford is located near the middle of the state and not far from the Wisconsin River, the water the bottler would tap into would eventually be headed for Lake Michigan. The springs feed a creek which runs into the Fox River and eventually empties into Lake Michigan. That means the Great Lakes Compact which took effect last December could be a factor.

This report can be seen this week on Here and Now. Friday night at 7:30 on Wisconsin Public Television.
