Award season

It's award season here, and I don't mean the Emmys. I've been taking time away from "In Wisconsin" to produce a special video for the UW Colleges and UW-Extension Chancellor's Wisconsin Idea Award. UW Colleges and UW-Extension, along with the Educational Communications Board, are Wisconsin Public Television's parent organizations.

Annually, the Chancellor of Extension presents a special award to a person or program that exemplifies the spirit of service to the citizens of Wisconsin. This year it is honoring a program that delivers free health screenings to farm families and workers.

It's great to learn more about what our Extension colleagues do, and to share our talents with them. The video will be shown at an awards dinner and it is always fun to have your work seen by a live audience.

And speaking of Extension awards, our own Art Hackett has been selected to receive the Academic Staff Council Award for Excellence. It honors Art for work that "exemplifies the Wisconsin Idea." There is no one more dedicated here than Art and the honor is well-deserved.
