Wisconsin Public Television, in collaboration with Milwaukee Public Television, is creating a program about our state's four National Parks. I'm developing a report for this show that takes place on Stockton Island, part of the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. The report features the work of Damon Panek, an Ojibwe Cultural Educator. Panek leads overnight excursions for grade school groups, immersing them in the history, biology and pure wonder of this unique outdoor experience. Videotaping on an island often presents challenges including weather and waves so stay tuned to find out whether we're successful. Watch for our National Parks: Wisconsin to air starting in September.
